Had a go at the weekend. Applied a bit of Hammerite rust killer, then cleared the hole with steel wool and a skewer. Put a bit of WD40 in there too, here's hoping the shit doesn't come back!

Once I've got it off, would poking a bit of grease or vaseline in the hole be a good idea to try and prevent it coming back? -
I've got what I'm guessing are sort of vent holes on my forks, one of them has developed rusting around/in it. They came with my fairly new Tokyo S2 so a bit concerned it's developed so quick.
Any tips for a swift fix or prevention? My plan was to get some rust remover from a hardware store, and diluting a bit in a bucket and leaving it to soak for a wee while.
Mine was on sale, so maybe that's why. Didn't see anything at the time though.
Touch wood, the Hammerite worked a treat and haven't seen anything since.
