    Hi Mr Bump

    Thanks v much for reply.

I'm fairly sure mine's a 5-speed. Sounds a bit vague doesn't it, but I've only just acquired it, and it's not stored near here. Also, I don't know if it's got 2 or 3 chainrings.

Since I posted my ad (in fact repeated, I hadn't spotted your and another reply), a friend has given me a pair of clip-fitting sun-tours, with ratchet friction one way and easy back. Beautifully made, and the only slight flaw is that they're not boss fitting.

I won't be able to get back to you till next week. But for the moment, it's just thanks very much but no.

Yes, I've done some great touring too, sweden on a run of the mill hire bike, greece ditto, Brittany with a comfy Gitane tandem with a sort of 'space' frame of small tubes. But when I suggested going this summer, my partner says haven't I grown out of it?!! :)

    Cheers

    Bob

i've a pair of 6 speed Exage LX sport in very good order which include standard concave fitments, right side will work in friction mode also.

For Raleigh Record Sprint. Originals would be nice, but anything that works ok would be good. Thanks!

Final couple of reactions from a newbie, IMHO it might be better for the 'last' posts to display first, and the one-line posts take a lot of space - I'm sure there's could be a more economical display.

Another thought - even in the dullest party, real conversations aren't kept for ever. So it's quite off-putting to see 500 pages of posts (eg for sale)!

Perhaps after 2 years, posts could drop off any of the forums into an indexed archive? No need to waste time setting up archiving and search facilities, just leave it all in an accessible directory, and Google and other search engines will do it for you!

This surely applies particularly to sales and wants - 1 month would be enough - the person selling or requesting the item could just re-post if it's still available/wanted.

Quite a few comments here eg posts #54, #56, #57, #65, #67 that spam on the 'for sale' and 'wanted' forums wasn't a problem.

Actually, what I wanted was some downtube levers for a bike that's I believe is popular among fixies. And maybe some front & rear mechs. And thought a good place to find them was where the folks that didn't want levers and gears hang out!

I'm involved and contribute in lots of real and virtual 'communities', so it's not meant to be insulting or negative that I really only want to do those limited things. And I'd have thought that a way to usefully pass on bits that were no longer wanted would be welcomed by fgss people.

So I completely agree you need to do a few things to prevent spammers, and a 24 hour delay is a good step. Maybe the 'for sale' and 'wanted' forums could then be available without making people post 3 times?

    Cheers
    Rob
