Ride Update:
Ok, took the wheels (24mm Tubs) out for a 30 mile spin this morning (first ride) ...
Very happy with them so far I have to say. They spin up to speed super quick and feel rock solid .. I'm approx 12.5 stone at present and can put some power down but felt no flex, no softening at all.
The rear hub (mine are BITEX) just spins forever, making a very pleasant sounding hummm in the process ... I think maybe all that coasting along this morning must've added 10 minutes to this regular ride... :)
There are no heavy climbs/descents on this route but on the areas where I did get REAL SPEED on downhill (ish) gradients they simply flew ... Braking was fine with the supplied pads although initially I did find myself braking a little earlier as unsure quite what to expect.
This was my first time riding Tubs and so again wasnt too sure what to expect, most advice seemed to suggest an almost heavenly ride ... I didnt get that at all but think this may be down to skimping on my choice of tyres - I was running outta disposable cash so went with these:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tufo-s33-pro-tubular-tyre/
I have seen these described as hosepipes due to their hardness ... I'm not sure I'd go quite that far but they're certainly not heavenly .. I rode on approx 120psi and it wasnt a plush ride by anyones standards ... I certainly wouldnt be going any harder than that, the tyre sidewall suggests upto 175 psi!!!, that'd be like riding on steel tyres ... or bare rims.
Who knows they may soften up a little when I've put some miles into them but I guess you gets what you pays for , eh .. By contrast I run Conti Ultrasports on my clinchers and find them far superior .... a much better feel to them, etc
Overall though the wheels are great, superlight (they've made a hell of a difference to the overall weight of my bike) ..... and as they're largely intended for use on Sunday Best and weekends in the hills, etc I couldnt be happier

Ok, so got my Tubs on today .. (Goddamn one of them was tough to get on) .... anyway used Tub Tape which made for a largely clean job.
One of my sidewalls though (black) has a fair amount of visible adhesive that I'd like to be rid of.... I have read that Lighter Fluid can clean them up nicely but aint got any to hand.
I have a shedload of White Spirit (I soak my chains in the stuff when cleaning them thoroughly) and am wondering whether this would be suitable..
Any advice for me please?
Cheers.

Ok, so my wheels arrived.
Very happy!!
Ordered on 22nd May, Dispatched on 24th May, received on 30th May.
Viva China, Viva Johnson.
They weigh in at exactly 1008g, thats 15g under the expected weight of 1023g.
Gonna get some Tubs and a cassette on tomorrow and get out on them over the Bank Holiday w/e..
Happy days.
For anyone worried about imports, etc ... FARSPORTS are a great company to deal with, cannot speak highly enough of them.

Well, I bit the bullet and after lengthy email communications with Johnson (Farsports) ... man that guy must have gotten fed up with me... I had a million questions and then some .. I placed an order.
I ordered the 24mm Carbon Tubs, Red Bitex Hubs, SAPIM CX RAY spokes, Red Alloy nipples and they cost me £361.82 inclusive of the Paypal Fee..
They've been sat at Customs since Sunday night (C'mon C&E, pull your finger out) ... so I'm hoping to have them Thursday or Friday, maybe even Wednesday if I'm lucky.
Cannae speak highly enough of Johnson, the guy was a legend in dealing with me.
Yishun were cheaper but communications were'nt quite as good as these were a better build so, just waiting to receive them now..
I brought some Tufo S33 PRO Tubulars as I running a little short on Moolah, anyone running these or have any experience of them, I'm heading way out into Cotswolds on them Sunday/Monday .. just praying they're good on puncture protection ..

Senor Bear
The 20mm Tubs would only be used for "special" Summer trips into the hills and so only wheeled out occasionally .... I wouldnae be using them constantly at all..
I'd also been looking at 24mm Tubs from Yishun, they seem far more affordable too (USD 399 + 75 P&P) ... Interested to hear what others think as to durability of 20mm and 24mm tubs.
Cheers!!
