Gonna be a bit cheeky and post my own Fondriest here:

Not sure if they just had lots of leftover pain in different colours or what happened, but they do seem to have used similar paintjobs on a lot of their frames from the late 90s. I wouldn't call it pretty in the traditional sense, but I've come to appreciate its quirkiness.

    What bars could they be...?

I saw it in the flesh yesterday and it is very nice indeed.

Looks a lot like the Bontrager SSR VR-C.

Thanks people. It was a bit of a strange build, because the frame has such a crazy paintjob, but I think it's ended up looking pretty cohesive.

I still need to find a proper seat post though, probably with two bolts which should be easier to adjust. Currently the seat position feels like it's pushing me too far forward, so I'm putting a lot of weight on the handlebars. The current seatpost won't really let me adjust the angle further backwards.

    Rogan: Yes, it's a 90mm Cinelli 1A.

Ernest: Looking at it, you're actually right, they are a bit too classic looking. I had them built up with straps and cages from a previous bike, so just put them on. More modern looking pedals would probably be the way to go.

The straps were such a pain to get in the pedals though, so I doubt I'll change it any time soon. And overall, it's a fairly minor thing, though now that you've mentioned it, I can't stop looking at them! Damn you :)

Interesting build, look forward to seeing what's gonna come of it.

Did something similar with a Fondriest Track frame as well (road drops etc.): http://www.lfgss.com/thread89601-2.html. Also with Bontrager SS VR-C, inspired by superjoes bridgestone :)

Did you find a seatpost by the way? Looking for a 27.2mm with two bolts as well. The single bolt setup seems to be a real pain in the ass to adjust.

    So, pictures as promised:

My favourite part of the bike:

Bought a (wrong) headset from them a while back here in Germany, which I then had to send back. The process was straight forward, got an e-mail when they received the returned item and the money was transferred to my account. So my experience was pretty good. They have very few (if any) singlespeed and fixed gear components though.

Interesting idea. Personally, I find the BLB bike pretty awful, so if you're gonna do it, it has to be done subtler than that in my opinion. Maybe just saddle, cables and a few bits here and there.

But it of course depends on what you're trying to do :)

I usually ride without gloves. I'd definitely say that it's thick enough that it's comfortable. It's mainly the grip that could be better.
