Daithim, I have checked and i can fit a regular headset in the top of the frame, bearings etc (to take the regular compression force of non quick-set headset). I will need to make a spacer approximately 43mm internal diameter to fill the gap at the top of the frame (cosmetic, no load on it & for debris protection) and (the most invasive action) grind the threaded metallic sleeve down on the forks (so that it does not interfere with the new headset) this action does not effect/ touch the structural integrity of said forks. Ill keep you updated on how it goes and can share photos). With some crafty engineering I reckon it'll be good, but i can understand why a LBS wouldn't want anything to do with such actions.
