Denon is lucky that he does not have the same seat post as whatok and myself.

whatok has a peugeot with an integral expander seat post with a similar mechanism as a quilled handlebar stem.

It can be removed by removing the saddle, undoing the expander bolt a bit and giving it a tap with a hammer. Do not undo the bolt completely when you tap the expander loose.

Reattach the saddle and twist the assembly whilst restraining the frame. It should come free. Withdrawal of the assembly should then be easier.

It is a bit of a flaw of the frame as the seat post choice is limited and because of the flutes water seeps down inside the frame.

    Elegant French design though.

Denon's peugeot looks likes a carbolite steel from mid 80's.

It is a bit daunting knowing which BB to choose esp. since a lot of them are ££££.

I fitted an up to date Campag Record with English threads to my 80's Pug and it worked out great. Don't forget to order a BB tool.

I would suggest Campag Pista BB and Crankset for a fixed set. I know some one else who did this with his custom Mercian build and was delighted.

I also replaced the original Stronglight Headset with Campag Record 1 inch threaded to complete the set up.
