On that night he even took my mates seat post off and left his saddle jammed into his spoke ha.

Souns a bit snobby TBH. Could have got something for the saddle surely?

The one thing worse than a thief is a snobby thief.

Just buckled the chain ring on my cheap Sturmey Archer crankset. Thing just folded on me while going up a hill.

It's my beater so I don't really want to splash out too much. Any recommendations on a budget 165mm crankset?

Looking forward to reading this when I have time. Wasn't sure where best to post it.

As above. Massive yawn of a story. Although the snippet about Igor Kenk, who stole some 2865 bikes, is vaguely interesting.

Kenk, considered the most prolific bike thief in the world, is a messy, dyspeptic Slovenian intellectual who before he was caught lived in a fancy house and associated with the classical music scene. Yet his method was brutally mundane: Kenk was finally caught pointing out bikes he wanted stolen to a mentally ill person, whom he paid with drugs. He served just over a year in jail and is already back out.

I have no idea what dyspeptic means.

What's going on with the upside down bars? Don't look good, can't feel good...

    Good stuff.

i think most, me included, wouldn't have followed it through to conclusion given the hassle involved.

It's good publicity for them even if the barrel failed.. shows their locks are tough and they're customer service focused. Nice one Krypto

I think they've salvaged the situation pretty well but the fact is the barrel failed - seemingly without warning. I suppose the weather may have been a factor and it may have been an idea to put some lube in the lock some time ago.

I have one but it's probably overkill considering the bits of thread people use to lock their bikes around here and I'm more concerned with something like this happening than it being cut and my bike being robbed.

Any more on this? Or does anyone else have any potenial botches that happen with this BB?

Going to fit one tomorrow that's been lying around my house for a couple of months and, while fairly self explanatory, I haven't fitted an adjustable BB before.

Previously I've used a vice to get BBs out and to tighten them up. Reckon that'll not be neccesary? It's a brand new frame with a virgin shell so I'm hopeful it'll slip in easily.
