I'm looking for a cheap entry to single speed riding just to test the water over the winter. Any suggestions welcome as to what I should look at. S/H preferred as I'd like to build something nice next year if I get on well with it and I'd like to be able to move it on without losing too much?
Thanks in advance

No need to repeat yourself.
#ignoredHm, not sure how I managed that. Thanks for not ignoring me.

Got even worse since that post, can't even remember last time I picked up any bike, must be at least a month, maybe more?
My work is now a cheeky 2miles from home, so you'd think I'd ride or walk it right? Wrong, been driving it, urgh.I can actually feel the fat building by the day.
though I am decreasing food input too.
Just cannot get motivated at all, playing on ebay and thinking of just selling road bikes as they aren't getting used any more (spent more time building them than riding them lol), the 'other' roadies around here are all well up themselves, don't really want to be associated with them TBH.I've been on a weight-loss/fitness campaign that was going well - 4 stone lost in 6 months. I've not ridden since 10th September due to illness and had an op a little over a week ago. Sometimes I think I'm being driven nuts by not riding and no gym either. Hopefully I'll be back on light riding duties from tomorrow.
Still, took the time to build a new full sus carbon beauty and am looking forward to the next project which will be a ti framed single speed.
I know what you mean about fat building by the day, I've put on 4 lbs in the last 2 months!
Shame my thread was deleted and added here. I was hoping for some useful advice for a first timer not a list brand new bikes or of 24 pages of posts to traul through. Having just completed my 2nd build of the year I was hoping for some advice on finding a cheap s/h bike.
I'll need around a 56cm. Thanks for the suggestion of the fuji or langster - where would they fit in the speed strength comfort spectrum?
As for £500, that ain't what I'd call cheap as I was hoping to get something under £200 ideally and then to build my own next year. Built a £2500 hardtail and £4,500 full sus mtb this year already and wanted to keep this one sensible Also just want to get out and ride after a longish illness and no riding for almost 3 months.
Thanks for the helpful posts.
