I just bought my first fixed, a Dolan Pre Cursa, and I've been using it for both commuting and for fun, loving it so far.
I'm wondering if there are any concerns regarding using it for commuting and stuff, seeing as it's a track bike, inteded for indoor use. I'm riding it mostly stock so far. I'm wondering if I should take more precausions regarding rain/dust/dirt than with a "normal" bike. Also, how will the frame and wheels hold up for normal city riding? I have a lot of cobblestone and curbs on my way to school, and I'm wondering how careful i need to be..
So far I've really been babying it. I'm not talking about doing tricks and riding down stairs and stuff, but just basic city riding, up and down curbs etc..
Any thoughts/experiences? -
Joseph said that 110mm would be appropriate for the andel cranks, so I went with a Tange 110mm.
Well, apparently the 45mm chainline is a problem with newer RD2s

Was recommended to buy Andel cranks by joseph at alienbikes. Found them cheap here. So I'll probably go with those. Currently trying to figure out what size BB to get for them, some sites say 110, and some 107.

Hm, was looking for black cranks actually (I'm vain, sue me), but that's so cheap, I might just go with that for now.
Unless you have some good suggestions for black cranksets as well? :)
Sugino 75 is a lot pricier than I thought, so that's probably out of the question. I was thinking £110ish, tops.. -
BB is JIS.
Hm, okay, guess I'll have to mount the ring on the inside for now. Looks ugly as hell, though.. Will the Sugino 75 give me the same problem? Was thinking about getting a black chainset anyway. Was looking at the 75 or possibly Miche Primato, but from what I've read, it's hard to find BBs that work well with it..?
Hm, that's a good point. I've always thought of track racing as an indoor sport, but most of the tracks where I live are outdoor tarmac tracks as well. I feel smart.
That's nice to hear. I'm currently riding on the 23c's that came with it, will see how long it takes me to skid them to shreds. I guess I'll just be extra careful around curbs/kerbs/cerbes/potatoes/Routes and I'll be fine.
Well, actually, I'm from Norway. But I like to hang on here, because I haven't found any other fixed gear forums as knowledgeable, helpful and friendly as this one yet.
Why?
