Wow, fantastic. Thanks for the tips on the cc and On Your Bike!

Dicki and Fruitbat, I'll follow up with you on PMs. Thanks again, you've revitalized my belief that bikes make people better humans.

Thanks for the offer hippy, I'll def keep it in mind. I'll probably keep my eye out for something a little more my size and a little less deadly. But if it comes to that...

If by Boris Bike you mean the Barclays bike share system, yeah, I'm keeping that as a back up plan and actually anticipate using it at some point just to check out from a professional perspective. Chicago has only just launched their first bike sharing system but there are a pitifully small number of stations, rendering it virtually unusable for any practical purposes. So to that end I'm excited to check out a system that is seemingly much more complete.

But also being someone who's become sort of accustomed to living on my bike in an urban setting, and knowing what I like in a bike (as I'm sure we all do here) I was hoping to find something a little more my speed and something that I could take anywhere and have easier access to while I'm there. But beyond the benefits afforded to myself by borrowing a bike for the stay, I'd also like the opportunity to interact with the London cycling community in some way if at all possible, rather than just the Barclays kiosks.

That is correct. Sorry for not providing more details but I'm not familiar with the UK address system and didn't want to put my friends exact address on the forum without their okay.

But cool, the South London games look like to ones that'll work. Thanks! I'll be getting in on Saturday and the friend I'm staying with isn't getting back into town until that night, so I'll need a way to kill some time and stave off jet lag. Drinking beers and watching some games looks like as good a way as any to accomplish that.

I'll bookmark the thread and check back in closer to the date. (I assume that even though the thread is titled "[Wed] South London Bike etc." that they're now playing on Saturdays occasionally0. Thanks again and maybe I'll see some of you there.

Hey all, Jason here. I live in Chicago, USA where I work for a bicycle advocacy organization as our education and outreach specialist. I'll be coming to London from Sept 3-6 and was hoping to be able to borrow or rent a bike while in town. I ride a 58cm and would prefer gears or single speed. (My usual ride is a Long Haul Trucker). Would love to just check out as much of London from atop a bike as possible. Might want to do a day-ride in the country if that's at all possible as well, but I'll see. If entrusted with your ride I promise to baby it in traffic, lock it up proper and bring it inside at night!

Chicago is hosting the 2012 Cycle Messenger World Championships and I've got lots of friends and acquaintances in the messenger and general bike scene here, so if you're planning to come my way in 2012, I'd be more than happy to return the favor with hook ups and places to stay for you and all your friends!I'll be staying in the Owgan Close area if that helps. Let me know y'all and thanks in advance!

Hey all, I'll be visiting London from Chicago, USA Sept. 3-6 and was hoping to make it out to some matches. I'll be staying in the Owgan Close area, (not even sure what all that means). Where and when do games in that area take place?

Sorry I only just saw this. For future reference checkout the Chicago Fixed Gear Forum www.chifg.com. The Chicago fixed gear scene is alive and well. We'll be hosting the Cycle Messenger World Championships in 2012 so start claiming couches now.

Hey all. This is Jason, from Chicago, USA. I work here for a bicycle (pedestrian and transit) advocacy organization called The Active Transportation Alliance as our bicycle safety and education specialist. I ride several different bikes, all of which are in varying states of transition, but my mainstay is a Surly Long Haul Trucker. I just joined LFGSS because I'll be visiting London the first week of September and am hoping to get some cycling done in and around the city. (If anyone has a 58cm bike they want to loan I'll be staying in the Owgan Close area [wherever that is] and promise to baby it, lock it up and always bring it inside overnight.) I just purchased a Long Haul trucker Deluxe with 26" wheels and S&S Couplers and thought I might be bringing it along, but I don't think this trip is the right one for it. In any case I'll peruse what's going on here and hope I can make it out to some bike related events while I'm in town.
