Can I jump off at every red light, take 2 steps over the line and then ride on? I think I would only do this in front of police to annoy them.
The guy next to me on my commute home did this two nights ago outside Aldgate East station on CS2. The police officer stepped out to hand out his safety advice flyer and the guy next to me hopped off his bike and walked out to the island in the middle of the junction before he could hand the piece of paper over.
To be fair the Police officer was in a good mood and found it a bit amusing.

I always find this time of year the most sketchy for commuting. The clocks go back, everyone is suddenly commuting home in twilight/darkness the roads are always damp/littered with wet leaves.
It takes everyone a few weeks to get used to the change in conditions and I generally feel less safe around this time of year.

As for the lights. Regardless of rights and wrongs, if jumping a red is always dangerous, how do people manage to negotiate any junction which isn't controlled by lights?
Drivers (and even cyclists) who have a green light often don't bother looking for vehicles and cyclists who would be coming from a red light direction. Also you get drivers who see the green changing and so speed up to get through.
If it is an uncontrolled junction everyone is paying attention to every approach before moving through.

Injuries to car drivers are much more common. Oddly, almost nobody stops driving because of it. Don't see anybody pestering drivers to purchase safety equipment each time there's a car accident.
Most people's perception of risk is screwed.
A car driver who has a crash without wearing a seat belt cops even more shit that a cyclist who crashes without a helmet.

I saw a champion on a boris bike this morning swerve across the front of a van from right to left so he could get over to the gutter to try and undertake a lorry which had slowed to turn left.
Fortunately both vans saw him in time slamming on the breaks and he only got a honking from each. He had the headphones in though so not sure if he noticed at all.
I think it takes something away from winning the sprint jersey if you win it without ever actually winning a bunched sprint stage win.
