Does no-one read this thread until their bike is nicked?

DO NOT USE A CABLE LOCK / ARMOURED CABLE LOCK.

    they are useless.

To be clear, these type or anything that looks like it are useless:

the suspected stolen dolan i mentioned earlier is now on ebay on a one day auction

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DOLAN-56cm-fixed-gear-bike-/110863900160?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item19d000de00

    anybody recognise it?
all listings since Christmas time (approx 40-50 bike items he's sold) are 'private'. In my experience of ebay (around 10 years) the only sellers that have 'private' listings regularly are dodgy.

Who owns / runs the market? Is it the council? If so perhaps a delegation could be got together to have a serious (professional) meeting with whichever department / councillor is in charge of the market to put forward the concerns and evidence / experience of riders here.

That would put pressure on them to act perhaps by sending round their council inspectors / not hiring out pitches to certain people etc

Why don't (a couple of) you go down bricklane market and openly film with a video camera various people that are selling bikes / in the market? It would surely put the wind up these scumbags and like police interceptors programme if / when they complain tell them to p*ss off becuase you're in a public place and entitled to film - you don't require permission to film (as long as you're not filming children in a park etc).

That place is a joke judging by the amount of stolen bikes that end up there.

Well, I've never heard of full city or London courier, but FYI I had already googled 'full city stolen bicycle' (I also tried 'fullcity' since I don't know the shop and didn't know if it was one word or two) to see if it was a place known on forums as handling stolen bikes. I did that as soon as I read the post.

    fullcity - Google Search

No the PNC is accessible by all coppers in all jurisdictions. As is immobilise.com. However, the difference is that if a person hasn't already registered their frame number, when it gets nicked most people don't know their frame number and therefore cannot report it to the police, and therefore it will never get put on the PNC. Therefore if by some miracle the bike gets found in a robbers lair, and the local copper runs a PNC check, it will come back blank, and the owner will never recover their property. That is why immobilise is useful in my opinion. Because you've gone to the effort of recording the number before the horse has bolted! so to speak. It is a good habit to get into. Also for the rest of the items in your home.

Wow this site is obviously populated by dicks. FYI I actually came across this thread a few days ago when I was looking for something else. I came back to register because there is not one mention of the site I linked to in this thread. For a 129 page thread on stolen bicycles that struck me as an omission that should be rectified.

But as I say, carry on. Soon be up to 130 pages and counting. If the people stealing the bikes don't get prosecuted, (and for that like it or not you need evidence), it will carry on.

Good luck. BTW I'm not a troll which will doubtless be thrown my way in a mo.

err... because I did a search before I posted, and it was only mentioned a couple of times? but go right ahead with your 129 page list of stolen bikes and feel good about yourself.
