Short answer is yes, and possibly.
It really depends on your preferences. The new langster looks like it has less clearance and I don't know if it still has rack mounts. If this is important to you you should probably check. From looking at someones the other day at the lighys I'm pretty sure it would take a 28 on the rear.
Thanks for your reply.
The option of rack mounts or even mud guard braze ons isn't really important. I prefer a ruck sack and just have a rear mud guard. 25-28mm tyres would be preferred as I don't intend to rush to work (although maybe on the way home...).
The langster sounds ok to me then. Would you say it's good value for the money? I don't indend on upgrading the cranks, probably just pedals, seat and tyres.

Hi, thanks for the advice on the frames. They look lovely! The problem is, as I've signed up for the cycle to work scheme I have to purchase a new bike from a retailer such as evans cycles unfortunately. I must admit I'm slightly gutted after seeing those frames I would love the option of another project, however unfortunately the bank balance can't stretch to it. Thanks again

Hi,
I've just committed to the cycle to work sceme to the tune of £650. I currently cycle 8 miles each way to work on a fixed gear bike. My current bike is an old puch frame converted into a fixed gear using stronglight crankset and vsprint track wheels (which are bulletproof!). I really don't want to move away from fixed gear as i'm enjoying the lack of maintenance and the feel for the bike.
As I now have an opportunity to purchase a new bike, i'm just after a bit of advice regarding the bike i'm pondering over. Or some potential substitutes that would be better for the same amount.
The bike in question is a specialized langster 2013. I know theres a preferences to the pre-2011 models, however I like the look and feel of the bike. I'm also planning on replacing the saddle to a brooks and but some brooks tape on the bars (already purchased). I'll be travelling to work with a bag, so weight is'nt a huge concern here although lighter the better. My questions really are, is this bike a good commuter bike?, or if not, what other fixed gear bikes are out there which are around the £550-650 mark?
Many thanks in advance for any advice!

Thanks everyone for their advice. I think the langster is still a favourite. However I'll make sure I try the charge at evans this week.
Thanks again. Tom
