Rode the Tour de Yorkshire this weekend. Perfect workout for my new(ish) wind jacket. Whoever it was on here that said it was the best thing that Rapha makes wasn't far off - very impressed.

That's a shocker. I'd definitely email to complain - that's totally out of order. Can't imagine Rapha would be happy. For what it's worth, I've found the staff at the Soho branch really helpful. (Had the opposite experience, as it goes - one of them suggested I try a size smaller when I was overcompensating for the beer gut.)

I've got bar end brakes and bullhorns (well... pursuit bars) on my fixed. I much, much prefer them. I find it gives me a really comfortable riding position - I felt too cramped when I had them on the tops.

Plus if I'm going at any speed I'm likely to be on the horns, and that's when I reckon I most need the brakes. As it's fixed, I've got that to fall back on when I'm on the tops.

I hope she wakes up every morning to see slug trails on the living room floor but can never work out where the slugs are coming from.

I have no idea where this sizing up/down bollocks comes from.

It comes from me always being one willpower-failure away from going full Oprah Winfrey. I need to work out how many cakes I'd be away from needing a new jacket...

Wind jacket sizing - I'm OK for a M in the classic jersey and the brevet. But they're about as snug as I'd want to go. I'm only ever a couple of pies away from cutting off my circulation.

Wondering whether I should size up to a L for the wind jacket, as there's times I'll be wanting to wear it over a base layer + winter jersey.

Or is that already factored in?

Merino socks and the winter socks. Sale prices. Nice but not very pricey. They've made every other pair of socks I own seem a bit disappointing.

Last night my daughter was helping me hang up the washing. She picked up my track top, saw the band on the sleeve, and said "Oh. It's Rapha! Is this cycling stuff? I thought Rapha only made cycling clothes?". She's six. I've ruined the poor girl. The only brands she should be into are Disney and Haribo.

I've got the CF SLX in large. I'm a bit over six foot, with monkey arms. Got them to swap out the stem for a 120mm stem and it fits beautifully. A bit longer and lower than my other bikes, but nothing mental - still comfortable.

Winter base layer. Forty quid in the sale. Bliss. So very happy.
