@ Mr Bump!
Thanks for your reply. The shop pulled out of the purchase immediately after sale as they had the item on their list again. I'm no lawyer but I doubt this is correct by any means to eBay regulations. They didn't even ask me to do so.
So I guess your proposal would be to organize a DHL courier service including insurance on my own? I wonder if the shop will be reluctant to sell the item again to me if I click "Buy It Now". Maybe other reasons keep them from selling to Germany. Just a guess! -
I do have a (somewhat) similar problem. I tried to acquire an eBay item from Edinburgh, used the "Buy It Now" button. The seller refused to be of any help with posting the item to Germany, their house courier will have to charge 220 GBP (!) for a Ladies Carlton frame including insurance. The price of the actual item is 200 GBP, so 220 GBP for transportation seems unreasonable. Asked for other options the shop wrote they won't send the item with other courier services since they're insured with the company that served them up to now. I inquired on my own via google search and wrote emails to other courier services without reply.
By the way I'm located near Frankfurt/ Germany. I don't know if you got your problem solved in the meantime.
Best of luck!
@ sLimJim!
Don't worry. All should be safe and sound with me...
And on behalf of me I mailed the shop at Edinburgh that I will take care of delivery and insurance. See what happens! I'll bet you they reply "Unfortunately this is not possible. We only deal with one courier."
And the moral of it is: "Nothing good comes without a fight".
