bananaman is DEADLY serious about his £100k price tag, I thought he was maybe doing it for some 'ebay market hype' , so made him a thought out and serious offer for a 25yr old bike made from pretty average materials and componants that has had 25yrs of use.

    Banana Man, he say.................. N O D E A L

*"I have made sure over the last 23 yrs that no one breathed on it wrongley and kept it pristine which takes a lot of effort." *

It looks filthy to me, it can't be that special to him if he can't even be bothered to clean it and take some decent pictures. And the reason why he thinks it would be worth £100k to anyone else is just crazy, he is dreaming if he thinks it's worth anywhere near £1k let alone £100k. At first I thought, it must be a typo, but it's no typo lol.

The Crosscheck is a great frame, had mine since 2007 and it does exactly what it is intended to do, brilliantly. Mine has mainly been used as a fixed gear winter training bike and commuter, but with a few small changes, it transforms into the ideal bike for the occasional touring holidays and off road rides, and works perfectly for this purpose. If you want a one frame suits all kind of machine, the Crosscheck has to be one of the best options.

There's no rack mounts on the Pacer, though there are ways round this, I think the Crosscheck is better set up for touring, wheelbase, clearance etc. you don't want to be kicking your paniers with each pedal stroke.

I run 40x16 with a 25mm tire and find this a comfortable gear for a long commute and general winter riding. I don't think I would want to run anything much bigger than about 70gi for general road riding, as I would end up pedalling squares on anything but the shortest of inclines and my knees would complain.

I converted to Keos a few years back and feel pretty safe on these, they feel as though they disengage with less effort and rotation than most other pedals. I've had a few tumbles in races and stuff and the bike has never stayed attached to my feet. As soon as your foot twists and it really only takes the lightest of rotation, your foot unclips instantly. I'd much rather be on these than clips and straps, probably because I just know that I would end up doing the straps so tight that my foot would never come out.

New member saying hi. :) I found the forum while doing a bit of research into a potential throwback project and have seen a thing or two in the classifieds that interests me. I have been scouring eBay etc. for some time and always seem to miss out on something, so the plan is to post in the wanted section and see what happens.
