Visited the man last night, he's in good spirits. He reckons he's likely to be in another week, maybe because he's got his eyes on the spin machine! Still weak and getting tired quickly. As said above he is in the best place and speaks highly of the care and attention he's been given in the spinal injuries unit. He's happy for random weegie cyclists to visit him. No lucozade left though ;)

Any takers for my 3/4 shorts before I send them to the darkness that is ebay?

One pair in olive, worn once, perfect condition (32" waist) £75 including postage.

One pair in blue, worn and washed a few times but in great condition (£32" waist) £75 including postage.

They are the ones with the nice tweed detailing on the belt loops and adjusters. They're currently not available from Rapha and they were £140 when new.

    PM sent

Worth noting the nano treatment (stuff that makes water bead off trousers) eventually washes after numerous laundering cycles. I know their 3XDRY treatment has a short life cycle

'The protective function of NanoSphere® is still retained after frequent use and numerous washing cycles and has no effect on clothing comfort, look, feel, breath ability or elasticity.'

I think this is the same coating being used on legwarmers etc by Castelli.

At £20 a pair I'll be more than happy if I get a year out of them.

Having just bought a pair of Outlier trousers made of the magical Schoelller fabric for £100 and being thrilled to bits with them I have also bought a pair of these Rutland £20 jobs and can't wait to see if they do the same as their esoteric NYC $250 ticket cousins.

I got a pair last week, tested them out in drizzly rain yesterday, water beaded on fabric, dry legs, well chuffed with these!

Breathing on both sides during front crawl, e.g. every 3 strokes - you're exercising much more control over your breathing / slowing it down.

Bilateral breathing also keeps your stroke technique symmetrical. If you can't manage 3 strokes between breaths do unilateral breathing and change the side you breathe on every length, to help prevent injury and keep trying to build up to bilateral lengths

yes use a specific leather needle, not too difficult on a basic machine if leather is not too thick
