  Wellgo model WPD-982 pedal available from Wiggles gives clipless and basic pedal functions and is cheap at around £25. Good to try clipless and if you can't get on with it you can still have clips.

• Which decent casual SPD shoes? Dzr, Chrome, Quoc Pham, etc

  Lidl the german supermarket has some reasonably priced semi-casual shoes which they stock at this time of year.They are priced at about £18.Very reasonable!!

  these bikes look expensive and make my collection of mostly bitsa look very shabby indeed,bad as an OAP what can you expect???
