Hi there! Catastrophic failure of a Goldtec rear hub here. Broken flange around 2 spokes that are completely intact. How did it happen? "Virtually indiestructable"?? The hubs are/where definitely the best part of my bike and they may have seen no more than 1k miles of very gentle dry ride...
I urgently need a replacement. The hub gave me a rather generous 46mm chainline but, apparently, the new Goldtec hubs have a standard 42.5mm chainline (...and a different colour). The best option I have identified at the moment is probably "Paul components" (expensive!) that should give a 44mm fixed and 48mm free chainline (Why such a difference?).
Please, let me know if you know a decent rear hub I can use without replacing BB. 36h, possibly fixed/fixed. I will buy a new one ...I feel rather desperate! I need to figure out the possible options. There is no point in saving money on the hub itself, considering that I need somebody to rebuild the wheel (not able to do it myself) ...possibly a new BB...aaah!
Many Thanx !!! -

Thanks! Still unable to PM (newbie, here). Essentially, I need somebody to convince me that powder coating a cheap (£111) and new (!) frame is actually a good idea...
Colour will not be black (...or red, blue, yellow) but some sort of weird subtle purple nuance ( a RAL/BS none will have in stock for sure) -
...just to check the evolution of the powder coating/Colorcoting story.
News, updates, price list, colours, PICS, PICS, PICS, ...RAL, RAL, RAL, comments, opinions...
Do you know if they take single orders at Colorcote? Have you got a (recent) list of the colours available?...other places in/around Norwich?
ThanX!
Thanks for comments and for moving my thread here.
I am not demanding a new wheel from Goldtec, but at least I expect a reply to my email and some sort of advice. After all, they built the hub and the wheel that I can describe as 'newish' in terms of real use, even if I bought it 4 years ago...disappointment all around.
Anyway, I definitely need a new hub! No point to replace it with an identical one...because it is not available anymore! I can live with 2 hubs that do not match...hopefully. Any feedback on "Paul Component"? Too expensive? Better than Goldtec? cheers!
