Hi, so I am starting my first ever Campag build. Got most of the parts including drivetrain - Comp triple with Veloce 10 rear and Centaur levers. Not exactly single speed I know but then I am an OAP and go up hills slowly ( including Alps ). Campag instructions say use Campag chain as others will damage sprockets. I am guessing this is marketing BS but will I get better shift quality with a Campag chain vs others?

Anyone know if you can convert an 8 speed Campag hub to 9 speed by changing the freehub body? Are all freehub bodies interchageable ( by year of manufacture and group ) ? I have done this on Shimano hubs but don't know much about Campag. Any advice appreciated.
Edited to say I am interested in groupset hubs ie. Record or Mirage etc not Campag manufactured wheels that may have completely different hubs from the groupsets for all I know. -
Hi, I doubt that Colnago or Campagnolo have ever had much to do with JIS! Crown race fitted fine. Before I turn to my lathe I just wanted to be sure I was not missing a trick. Heating/freezing might help but I sense something more fundamental is wrong here. The original headset was obviously fitted by a gorilla and shows evidence of his bute strength.

Rebuilding 1990 ish Colnago with new Record headset. Upper and lower head tube cups ( races ) will not fit. They measure ( with mic )30.27mm, the head tube ID is 29.9 mm ( measured with vernier calipers so might be 30.0 max. ). According to Sheldon Brown dimension should be 30.2 nominal. I would expect approx 0.1 for interference fit so that would make sense with new headset. Head tube therefore seems undersized. Any classic rebuilders had this problem and what did you do?
PS. I have fitted headsets before and have the tools albeit homemade.
I am pleased to say I now have my refund from Hilary. Sent with 'very sorry' but no other explanation.
