Thank you liquidsky.
I had a bit of a think & a fiddle with some calipers. I measure the TSA 314 as being 2mm asymmetric (i.e. 2mm longer on the drive side), this agrees with a gif on Sheldon Brown (19 vs. 17 mm): http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/images/ta-bb-axles.gifAssuming the TA crank taper is ISO, the ideal substitution should be a 113.5 symmetric axle ISO BB (some places seem to suggest it is between JIS and ISO, at which point it would sit closer, I think). I can't seem to find much available in 114mm, so Liquidsky seems to have it right with a 115mm 'triple' ISO! Now to find a suitable BB...

My TA 314 exited this world last night in a vainglorious grind up Brixton Hill. I've taken it all apart and cleaned it up, the cups seem pretty squared off, but I don't really know how they're meant to start. The Axle has some odd pits in the ball races, and seems to have wonkily starting grinding against the mouth of the cups.
Are there any sensible source of replacement cups? How do you tell whether they're too worn.
Failing that, what can I replace the whole BB with?
Is ISO 113mm the best bet? -

& went with a Campagnolo Centaur, at a tasty £33.26 delivered from Ribble:

I'll report back with how I get on...
