Its fecking miles off. Elevation data is totally screwed. So gradients are wrong. Power data is often 40% off.
Get a free trainingpeaks account, and a decent GPS/altometer if you are interested in actual data. Strava is just Facebook for the athletically minded.
This has nothing to do with Strava, in fact, you'd be better using Strava if your data is this shit to begin with. Elevation data from Garmins is often wank as it uses barometric pressure which requires consistent weather. Read more here
When you upload to Strava it actually makes your elevation data considerably more accurate as it looks at actually charted and confirmed data for where your route went and then weights the garmins data.
If your power data is off, then thats down to two things;
If you have a power meter, then you've been done and it's a shit power meter. Strava doesn't take the power figures from your recording device and change them.
If you are using estimated power, you haven't put your weight in correctly.

You obviously have never heard of the SF Wiggle. You would benefit from using your intellect more than your muscle.
I disagree that the SF hills would encourage you to get a geared bicycle, just adapt a different ratio suitable for a specific city.
Not just that but the beautiful countryside outside SF, like Naple/Sonoma County for example, amazing to ride through and extremely doable on a fixed wheel bicycle.
Probably doable brakeless I think, but worth getting 1 teeth bigger on the rear to be sure.
I live in SF, ride both fixed and gearz and would like to state:
Andy, you sound like a fucking moron. I don't care if you are borrowing Förstemann's legs but you will limit yourself, the rides you do, and the friendships you make massively with your cute and try hard desperate to be #fixiefamous attitude. No-one wants to hang around at the top of every climb, or the bottom of every decent, or strip all the trails out of their ride so they can instagram fixehmasher who has some publication. And don't even pretend to say that the Mash gents 'all still just ride fixed.'

I don't have any time for anything but Fixed gear bikes. I tried a road bike last year for the 1st time in a while... It made me love Fixed even more.
Andy, I know I have never met you and you may be different in real life, but you sound pretty full of it. 'It' being narrow minded and detractive to anyone's impression of you as an ambassador of cycling, let alone fixed specific riding.
I think when you move to LA, and maybe even spend some time in SF (although I am sure you have spent LOADS of time there already) you will realise that a lot of the people you mention, are ambassadors for both fixed and geared, and pretty fucking good at both too. You might even realise that to pretty much everyone your staunch anti-gears pro fixeh 'thing' is nothing short of anecdotal - although you are probably to committed to it to ever admit it.
Anyway, I'm sure you are going to come up with a superb and witty counter argument, and I am probably incorrect anyway. I think you should either enjoy the forum's evolution and many of the forum's world class fixed specific threads or do one and stop whining. See you in a month when I check back to see more fixeh pron and want to lust after deep crabonz and toight clearances.
Hi Everyone,
A good friend of mine is coming over from San Francisco to race the RHC this July - he's wondering if there is anyone who could give him and possibly his team director (Wolfpack Hustle A's) a place to crash from the evening of July the 10th through the 13th? Ideally near Greenwich.
I can vouch for his cleanliness, ability to be a good guest and continual willingness to drink beer.
Thanks
