So what counts an an 'ordinary bike'?
Ordinary as in 'penny farthing' as opposed to 'safety' bicycle with a diamond frame.
Ordinaries were fixed and the gear you pulled was determined by your inside leg measurement, circumference of the large driving wheel gave you gear inches.

the white un - a male mtb
le velo noir - male, very muchly, in a gallic thrusting kind of way, probably has lovers behind my back, etc.,
the purple un - an aging gay male singlespeed mtb, in real life would run a newsagents in kemptown Brighton.
the strida - neuter
the blue un - transgender to be honest, definitley more feminine in current incarnation that macho origins. -

I like what you've done. My o-ring could go through the bolt hole, zip tie under the brace to take out the slack and your uncle is called Robert.

I could do it by putting a zip tie through the hole in the brake bridge and then zip tying the road racer in turn to that. Which seems practical but a little inelegant.
Any other decent solutions, form and function being of equal priority to me.
It's on a charge plug if that makes any odds. fitted with an SA S2C so it's neither fixed nor singlespeed but it will be ridden fixed a fair bit of the time. The S2C is for weekends.
