A few years ago, there was some cycle speedway raced on ice, using studded tyres. I think an ice rink was used. It would be great to see an event like this organised, I would watch it!

Riding on ice? time to get the recumbent trike out and practice a few pirouettes.....

I have broken a few axles, solid and hollow. From recall, hollow axles have almost as much strength as a solid one but weighs less.

Some mountain bike hubs went to oversize axles for greater strength, as fitted to suspension forks especially designed to take them.

Funnily enough, Raleigh have supplied this size rim a few years ago to a local bike shop. It was for a Roadster (Raleigh Superb). I am assuming that is the that type of bike it is for. Ask your reliable LBS to order one from Raleigh.

    Hope that helps

Good to see there is still interest in the sport, sadly a few clubs have disappeared in the past few years. I think my old club has died too - Wimbledon Rangers.

Hadrian's Wall walk is a good LDT (Long Distance Trail). Start at the Bowness on Solway and finish in Newcastle. The walking route is not the same route as the cycling one and there are better views.
