    Hello Edscoble.

I managed to fall off my peugeot racing bike today an bent by bars.

Can you suggest any good drop bars to replace the old ones with? I'm ideally looking for simplicity, lightness and style, but at not too much of a cost.

I've looked on freshtripe.co.uk but can't really tell which bars are good/bad etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm pretty much a novice in this area of drop handlebars.

French made Peugeot HLE Carbolite, 5 speed.
** I'd rather keep this bike geared,** however I know how difficult it is to find parts which will still fit my bike, so may have to make a compromise.

I'm wanting to buy a new brown vintage saddle, and wondering if I will need a new fitting for the saddle? (This seat post doesn't seem to have the correct attachments?!)
Also, anyone have any recommendations for good priced, simple, brown leather vintage saddles?

Ideally i'd like a new derailleur in the near future, but can't seem to find one apart from this one at the bottom of the sites page:

As with the wheel set, I want to keep the bike as a 5 speed.
I have no problem finding the rims and spokes I want to build new wheels, but when looking for new hubs is a nightmare. They are currently 'Maillard 87' hubs, made in France.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Wow. The rims look strong, and pretty thick. What thickness are the tyres?

Ahh EdScoble. Bump into you again, what a coincidence.

The VO wheelset is the only wheelset i would be happy with for my peugeot conversion!

What are the Pros and Cons?

Where did you buy them from? (freshtripe.co.uk are sold out and the Velo Orange in American won;t have any till november :(

my apologise for not responding to your mail, got quite a lots of mails.

you don't need a special attachment, unless it's not on the seatpost of your pug (the bit that connect the saddle to the seatpost), best thing you can do is to go to a LBS and ask if they have any lying around (forgive me for not knowing the actual name for that little thing).

    alternatively if you don't have a seatpost, Decathlon have a seatpost that fit Peugeot's unusual size (23.4);

    http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/l330-basic-diam-23-4-25-27-2-35412401/

    hope this help.

Yer its the bet that connects the saddle to the seatpost, whatever its name is haha.

I've been to many stores and they don't seem to have any spare.

I'm happy sticking to the saddle it came with for the mean time.

    Hopefully something will pop up!

I have an old seat post, (which is very thin) and saddle.

Is there a special attachment I need to purchase, and anyone know where and for how much?
