    Ironically it sits and operates perfectly - there was never any 'issue' - it was a post build recommendation from someone I know. It's not caused a problem maybe I should remove it to be 'purer'. Didn't expect so much flaming...

    For what it's worth Sheldon Brown has been the inspiration and go-to-person...

    A recommendation of a mechanical engineer to improve straightline tension and reduce fatigue - that's why the tube-nut has been applied. It happens to be that thread pitch for a reason. But you knew that surely 'mdcc' or are you just angry at the world and do nothing more than constantly criticise ... ahh there's where the 'cc' comes in.

    My first build, for my wife who calls it the barbie-bike, she's doing her MBA in Paris where she currently zips about on it...

    The handlebars are French -ish '50-60s style I think...
