I use a cheap road bike external bb on my mountain bike which regularly ends up in peat bogs, jet washed and / or abandoned in the cellar still covered in mud. They last about 4 to 6 months.
If I was spending Hope money on one I'd expect it to last a lifetime on a polo bike

Exactly. They're also a bit more touchy on warranty lately.
That could have something to do with the huge amounts of grey imports hitting these shores too

The polo bike was implied by the interviewer but then finding out there was a polo team there explains that.
Re shimano's trading practice, I find it interesting that the UK importer is specing Sram on their in house brand.

Yeh, we were there talking earlier on, which I think is what the interviewer was hinting at. I don't remember the Charge guy actually saying they were developing a frame in his talk. The Charge guy came across as a very profit driven businessman, so I'm sure they would if the market was there but right now I don't think he'd go near it.
That makes sense.

maybe he was inspired after listening to cosmic talk at dm, he was in the room with us.
It was the cycle show radio blog thing, he didn't mention it direct, the interviewer mentioned it in a way to suggest they'd already been talking about it
