Hello all, I am a newbie to Road bikes and recently bought a GT Series 3 bike - http://www.gtbicycles.com/usa/eng/Bikes/Road/Details/5927-G10GTR3-GTR-Series-3
My question is would I benefit from replacing the front derailleur and brakes. They have used Tiagra throughout but the brakes are Tektro R530 and the front derailleur is Sora. I sometimes find the front derailleur sticks.
Thanks

Hello all. I recently purchased a GT Series 3 bike - http://www.thebikelist.co.uk/gt/gtr-series-3-2010/specs
As an entry model it is a great start for me. The only issue I have is the front derailleur. It says it is a Shimano Compact. All other gear mechanisms are Tiagra and work fine but the front derailleur is a tad clumsy. Should I upgrade to Tiagra 9 speed. Advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,
I am new to road cycling as I am starting Sprint triathlons this year. I have recently purchased a GT Series 3 bike. I go on a regular ride now of 11 miles and it takes 40 minutes and has a few moderate hills. Therefore 16.5 mph. My question is is this reasonable? And what benefit would I get from proper pedals and shoes. At this rate I will do the 24km of a sprint tri in about 50/55 minutes.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Thanks. I have a service for it soon so will take then. As for the brakes , I guess I am a bit of a fuss pot, but they are black and just don't sit well with me with the rest of the groupset being Tiagra.
