So a couple of months back I started designing—albeit just in my head—a bikepacking mudguard/shovel thing. It was to be my ticket outta here. Yesterday I learned it already existed. Today I find this LFGSS thread.
Anyway: this.

It was rescheduled from Easter. I only learned of that myself a few weeks back, which in hindsight perhaps wasn't long to get back in shape. I think there were perhaps 50 or so riders that took part.
The great bits of the route were great. The bad bits were really nasty, the kind of boggy or rutted paths that you'd never actually choose to ride, although that was perhaps to be expected given last week's weather and the aim to make a coast to coast route as off-road as possible.

First two are North Yorkshire Moors (Fylingdales Moor and somewhere North of Cockayne), the final one was Yorkshire Dales (the grouse moors above Carperby), taken on the ride back West on the race here: https://bikepacking.com/event/dales-divide-2020/

The Midge I've fitted to this latest build were last used on a cross-check built up as a on and off road commuter. I love 'em for offering a range of positions but I don't think I use them as they're intended, having them low-ish and riding on the hoods in a bullhorn fashion the majority of the time and really only using the drop sections when it gets gnarly† when the wide stance is perfect.
† Gnarly for a middle-aged bloke with no bottle.

Getting there! Other than cross-threading a disk caliper's bleed port it's come together nicely. Need a 0º stem to have it match my other bikes' setup and as ever, needing to find restraint in not just splashing the cash on new rather than use what I already have or find used which was my self-imposed n+1 rule this time round.
