Thanks for the feedback guys!
I'm not above the velib or anything, I think its a rad idea, but I thought by finding someone to borrow/rent from it would be a more unique experience within the Parisian bike scene. I'll see what happens, hopefully I get lucky by finding a generous local, if not, it will be the velib indeed.

Heyy,
I'm flying to Paris this weekend from Madrid, and don't want to bring my bike on the airplane... is there anybody in Paris willing to lend me or rent me a bike for a little while or the weekend or something?? I am a small girl that generally rides a 52 fixie, but am down to ride anything as long as there is a bit of stand over height. If you want compensation let me know and I'm down to pay!
Also, if I can find a bike, is there anyone that wants to ride this weekend? So far I love bike life in Chicago/Madrid and would love to experience it in Paris too.
Get at me. I'll be around for the weekend of November 5-7.

Thanks bearfoot! If I can't find a community, I suppose I will just have to start one... lol. It will be well worth the challenge though, riding a new city it always great. Perhaps being a women will give me an advantage, there aren't too many female riders here so I can't imagine there are a lot in madrid either. Well, I hope to run into you biking!

El guapo, I am so excited to hear that you found some cycling culture! last time I was in Madrid I almost dropped my ice cream too at the sight of a bike. I'm glad to see everyones input here, Sindundane, thanks for all the great info, I am definitely checking out the critical mass in madrid and stopping by that shop. If anyone has any more info or contacts riding in Madrid please let me know! I am trying to make my stay there as bike friendly and exciting as possible.
Also, I ride in Chicago, which has become a relatively good biking city, but my Spanish friends tell me that Madrid is a death trap and that they refuse to let me ride there. Any thoughts? Is it really that bad?

Thanks for the offer! Seeing as I'm 5'2 though I have a feeling it wouldn't be a good fit... Well if I find a bike or figure out how to use the velib perhaps I'll see you riding??
