    Maybe because he has verticle dropouts so would then need a tight chain?

    Yeah ... need to get matching tyres for sure. front tyre is new, back tyre is 15 year old tubular, didnt have the heart to replace it just for looks ;)

    why not run the Peugeot as a fixed wheel bicycle? it'd be much cheaper.

    Its horizontal and i have good chain tension w/ QR on it. Just not on that picture ...

    Thing is, wheels use tubulars = expensive to use as every day bike and also i feel that this old but high quality (at the time?) steel flexes far to much.

    And also, bikes are a hobby and it doesnt need to be cheap, it needs to be fun :) :)
