Here in the States we have a word for people who do this sort of thing. I looked it up to be sure that I wasn't off base. Here is how Vocabulary.com defines it:

"Someone who uses violence, mayhem, and destruction — or the threat of those things — to coerce people or countries into taking a certain action is a terrorist. A terrorist may be motivated by religious fervor, politics, or just plain old-fashioned greed."

You Britts are way too polite. This person needs to be locked up.

The langster look really nice with that bar, rims and tyres combine.

edit - you changed the fork too as well?

Hi, for some reason I didn't get an email that my post had a reply. Yes, I did replace the fork with one from Spicer cycles. Round blades and undrilled crown. Those are Cinelli bars and stem, old Specialized Turbo tires, Sun M13II rims. I have a stitched leather Oringin8 saddle on it now. That front hub is a Campagnolo Record high flange track hub. I built the bike to promote the Velosteel hubs, and I wanted something that looked retro yet was modern. Thanks for the compliment, and appologies for not responding sooner.

Check out my Web site for info on the Velosteel hub: elegantwheels.net I also sell the hubs on Ebay, and can ship with a USPS small flat rate box. (very reasonable)

Hi, I have a web site with lots of information about Velosteel hubs. www.elegantwheels.net I find that they are much more durable and work better. They do need to be lubricated and adjusted proberly, and I have posted some instructions on how to do that. just scroll to the bottom of the Velosteel page.

The rattling is the rollers in the clutch, if you are coasting, the rollers are loose and can make some noise. It is not a problem, except for those who are noise sensitive. If it bothers you, just pedal. It would probably be a good idea to overhaul it though. Be careful of using too much grease on the rollers, they can stick and make the clutch slow to engage drive. Use a very thin grease on the clutch rollers.

I have sold many of these, and only had a few complaints, mostly from those who overpacked the clutch with heavy grease.

I just read this, sorry to revive an old thread, but in case someone finds this on Google, I have a web site that has lots of information on the Velosteel hubs. Check out www.elegantwheels.net click on Velosteel. I have posted the instructions on Photobucket and there is a download for a PDF for your convenience.

The rattling noise is the rollers in the clutch. It is very important to adjust the bearings so there is not too much play in the rim. You can use a little grease on the rollers, but if you use something too sticky, the clutch will hesitate to engage, causing an unnerving spin at the pedals.

So, don't be hesitant to work on that hub, they aren't that conplex. You will note that I recommend a front brake just in case, but the hub should have no issues if it is properly lubricated and adjusted. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me by PM or through the web site. Guy

Would it be possible to get the TA 344 sent to California? I am repairing a Schwinn Sports Touring, and it has a TA crankset with a crumbling spindle. I just registered so I am not allowed to use PM, but you should be able to email me....Guy
