I did this dude. Managed it in a few minutes quicker than last year, which i was pretty chuffed with (despite it being shorter) as I don't have as many miles in the legs this spring / summer. My official time wsa 6/30 i think, actual rolling time was about 6.15.

As you say, superb organiseation, and a lovely route. The last 30-odd miles are so punishing. Up down up down up down up down up down

Good going, I was 7.06 this time which shows you how much I struggled last year. And yes, the final third is a bitch, but I felt a lot better - last year I was actually swearing at the bottom of the last 3 hills as I couldn't believe they were sending us up more! A big feeling of satisfaction as I cruised past the point I got cramp last year :-)

Apart from the road surfaces not being great, roads open to cars and the usual couple of people riding like dicks, this is a great one to do.

Did the Chiltern 100. Brilliantly organised again, and although it hurt, nowhere near as bad as last year. 1 hour 20 quicker, although it was about 5 miles shorter. Anyone else there?

Yeah, was pretty good - it's a big club so riders of all standards. Our group was one below the fastest, we split so there was 7 of us which was ideal. Good chat all the way round, and a good cafe stop. The club does have a bit of a rep for older riders being sticklers for doing things right, but if you are in the area (I was just visiting) then they seem to do the best Sunday rides.

First ever ride with a club (Verulam), and first experience of proper sustained group riding. Surprising how much faster you can go on average in a group - this was a good 2mph faster than rides on my own or with one other. Was a nice flat route though.

Edit: just read the posts above, seems I am a massive twat.
