crankset painted white [wtf?]
non matching saddle
bars could use some adjusting/different stem.Yes, the flutes got some white color, wtf is wrong about that?
An Arius Professional saddle matches this 1972 bike perfectly, it wouldn't work with an Italian frame set, but we are talking about a Dutch bike here.
It is an 3ttt pista bar and stem combo, these were made to match, so why to use another stem?

It all started with the frame set which i bought from a friend in 2009, after an email conversation with gazelle.nl, it turned out the frame & fork were made in 1974.
The frame was in a bad condition, a lot of the paint was gone (2 layers, it already got over painted by a previous owner, rust and to top it of, one of the chain stays was tweaked and the decals where wrong (newer type).
So i brought the frame to a Berlin based bicycle repair shop and for 25 Euro, the frame was made straight and true again.
After that i went to a established old timer Restoration shop where the frame was repainted in green-metallic DAF color way.
Frame only:

Mr cheese, I've just acquired a gazelle cyclocross frame and fork with the serial number:
4005737
Any idea of the date of manufacture from this number?
Thanks!
I guess the frame was build between 1995 and 1999, compared to the other serial numbers:

Let me see,
the first picture shows a typical early Bauer track bike including a well known German collector.
Watch his flickr account (his new website is unfortunately under construction) to see some more Bauer road and track bikes:

The second pic shows the typical "50 years Bauer" metal head badge which celebrates the 50th birthday of the Bauer company. Helps you to separate pre and post 1961 Bauer bikes.
In 1952, Heinz Müller went world champion on a Bauer bike, since then, the frames had a decal on the top tube saying: "Modell des Weltmeisters(1952)"
Bauer used to produce and use own lugs for their frames, but used Nervex Professional lugs on high end frames, probably the easiest way to sort out the quality.
