just got hold of an unusual cherry red/tan brooks saddle and after seeing some of skullys work i'd really like him to take a look at it and chop it good, really impressive and stylish work. i dont think i am able to contact anyone for a while but until i do, hats off to the saddle sculptor and if you're still in business i look forward to meeting you

if your bodyweight is further back due to a seat position/seat post layback etc there is less weight over the front wheel and power directly down into the cranks from your hips making it harder to climb whilst seated. doesn't make a load of difference if your up on your pins, but its noticable when comparing trail bikes with a slacker seat and head tube angle uphill compared to a typical road or touring bike with a steeper head/seat tube angle. hence the twitchy ride of a lot of road bikes on steep descents and the joy of riding them uphill!

also if you have a bench vice clamp the remover on with the skewer and clamp it into the vice and use the chain whip to shift the lock ring. if you dont have a vice use a small length of scaff bar on the spanner holding the lock ring and pray the chain whip dont crumble as they sometimes do.

pushing the seat back will make the bike harder to climb whilst seated too, but nicer for descending. i got an old easton post a few months ago with a monster layback on it so its worth looking around and comparing profiles.
