Hello everyone, names louis, a year or so ago i got pissed of with brake pads wearing out, the cost of drivechain parts and the effort required maintaining my pinarello road bike when used on a daily basis, I'd happened across sheldon brown's website and fell in love with the concept of riding fixed... then a genesis flyer came up for sale on gumtree near by and i made an impulse buy... aside from getting used to going over speed bumps i absolutely love the fixie ride and am still upgrading the genesis on a weekly basis till the point where only the frame, forks, headset, stem, crank arms and bb are original... i've added a little picture of it for you all to take the mic out of - i know the pedals are flats but i can lock up and skid with ease and ever since a particularly nasty over-the-bars session in the summer i've lost faith in clip-ins for a while...

Did someone mention winter riding and white components? (yes thats a white chain too) 's nothing a qick wipe with a rag wont fix!
looking pretty lovely! white components are definately the way to go - though your running the twin rail tyres - i've always assumed they instantly become a shade of grey when they hit the road?! my pink and green did...

when did bar tape go out of fashion?
bar tape went out of fashion when i ran out of time and money putting it together... then i realized that they were acceptably comfortable without and haven't bothered since.
though now the frosts have come i think bar tape might come back into fashion... at least full-finger gloves will.. the angles great for me, and they're lovely and narrow... -
This is the latest version of my genesis flyer, which changes on a weekly basis - hence the shitty phone + hallway photo... currently its running pretty sweet, new front wheel, bars, brakes, saddle, post, rear wheel, chainring, chain, tyres, sproket and so on... in fact, on last check, the frame, crank arms, bb, headset and forks are the only stock components remaining... for now.

now that is scary - yeh there are cameras to show down the sides, but they're small and there not where a lorry driver looks frequently.. its bad enough when a lwb van or bus over-takes and then drops back too soon, but with an even greater likelihood of this happening. also, in an ideal situation they'd stick to the motorway, but in reality if they're allowed companies with inner-city depos - supermarkets etc are gonna maximise on the efficiency of these...
no, i'm still here!
same shitty tyres maybe... different way round; what are the odds of that, i've assumed i was the only one not too embarrassed to enter the public domain with that colour combination - i should state that mines due to stock levels and discounts at wiggle, not colour blindness, nor being enormously homo...).
I should say in the twin rail defence that in the last couple of days of snow and now ice these have been blooding fantastic... cycling with a mate who has a standard road bike w. conti's on today - he's going along next to me one minute and gone the next... the twin rails had enough bite to keep me running (albeit wheel spinning)... they wear quick but i'd still replace like-for-like.
