I've been reading the original classic James Bond books, starting at the beginning with Casino Royale and working through them all gradually. Classic 50's style and references all the way though - spiffing good fun!

Had a white van shout think bike at me this morning, I considered trying to enlighten them that this slogan related to the motorcycle awareness campaign.... but instead decided to give them a highly sarcastic thumbs up.... that'll learn them

My favorite was a another white van who decided to shout as they went past..... they left their passenger door window open, I caught up with them when they were at a standstill in traffic & shouted oi as loudly as possible into the van... they almost crapped themselves & did see the funny side

    brilliant!

wow, that stuff looks great. might be hard to get enough to soak a whole frame though.

the best way to do a frame would be with gel I suspect, and it would probably only need a reasonable amount. You slap it on and wrap in clingfilm and leave it. As long as it doesnt dry out it keeps eating the rust.

My main passion is classic cars, so I have some experience of dealing with rust. As a newbie I thought I'd share something you may be interested in...* I have NOTHING to do with this company except being a satisfied long term customer.*

    http://www.bilthamber.com/deoxc.html

I have used Deox in powder form when you have parts you can soak, eg engine & suspension parts, and the gel form on bits you cant easily submerge, like bodywork etc. Soaking parts for a few hours to overnight strips 100% of rust, and the gel applied and sealed with clingfilm for a day or 2 will do the same.

The first time I used it was on my old garage vice, so I thought I'd post up some pics of the process and results. I think it will be perfect for bike parts and the gel on forks and frames.

Before - 30+ years of rust

Soaking in Deox C solution for about 3 hours

    afterwards - Deox C only

I am pretty sure this stuff will make prep on old frames and parts a bit easier, and it doesnt need any special precautions to use it.

I've not restored an old frame or bike yet so cant offer any examples but thought it might be something new for those of you working on those gorgeous old projects. They have pretty much the best rust prevention coatings as well, and the stuff is pretty cheap :)

    Hope its of some use...

Here's my Carlton fresh back from a session at Armourtex

It is coloured in RAL 3020 TRAFFIC LIGHT RED and has also been lacquered.

The chrome fork ends survived fine - they were solid beforehand - and look very solid now with a cover of clear-coat.

Finish has a few lumps here and there it seems slightly thin on the lug edges and the border between colour and chrome isn't too sharp. Other than these nit-picks it looks awesome, the lacquer is incredibly shiny giving the colour a deep rich look. For the price very good value.

The Armourtex guys are friendly and helpful with samples when choosing colours.

    Cheers!

    no pics showing?

please show us the gorgeous red...

    afternoon all...

Just converted an old Trek racing bike to a SS for my first taste of SS fun, so thought I'd sign up here after wetting myself at much of the humour handed out in various threads...

Already fallen in love with a 2010 Charge Plug Racer, despite not living in a city, having a shed full of other bikes already and probably having zero chance of getting up the hills round here on it. Perfect then!
