The Campy tool doesn't work so great. Try a flex-head box ratchet made by Gear Wrench & marketed by KD, Snap-on & others.

FWIW, Gear Wrench makes a flex-headed ratcheting box end wrench (10mm) that gets in there very nicely. They also have short ratcheting box ends designed for 3/8" socket extensions that are pretty sneaky as well.
Campagnolo are not stupid. Wash out your keyboard with soap! They made some of the prettiest parts ever hung on a bicycle. A lot of them worked far better than anything else available at the time. That said, the Record two-bolt seat post was kind of klutzy to use.
