Yes if you're always measuring at the same radius from the centre of the hub - trouble is rims have different effective rim diameters (ERD). So the linear distance between spokes where they meet the rim can vary depending on how far they are from the centre.

Lots of horses in these parts and based on advise from riders as well as experience, calling out beforehand to warn the riders and let the horse know we're only humans helps a lot. I always pass wide and slow having been close to a horse that kicked-out and broke a mate's ribs.

No problem using a 32 hole hub as long as you don't go for some superlight job with skinny flanges. Royce do custom-drilled hubs but they're pricey. Building a 16 hole rear wheel to a carbon rim requires a fair level of skill as tension needs to be quite high and even, otherwise overdoing the tension can crack the rim. No problem using it as front - few carbon rims have assymetric spoke hole drilling.

Sounds like you just need more leverage - stand over the wheel with the chainwhip in your left hand and the lockring tool in the other and give it a good firm grunt. Ambrosio hubs are rebranded Novatec and use standard cartridge bearings - if you can get a grip of the spanner flats in the spindle with the lockring in place then you can remove the spindle and freehub.

The Ambrosio and Stelvio frames were generic Taiwanese frames imported by RSI, who are also the UK importers for Ambrosio Spa - but the Ambrosio frames, bars and hubs have nothing to do with the Italian company of the same name.
