CXP 33. I race on them, they are excellent hoops. Build with DT Revolution spokes for the front wheel, and use less spokes. You can do the front wheel radial if you like. They aren't seriously aero, but don't handle badly in a crosswind either. Don't let the tyres get soft- these rims will crush easily if they bottom out, that's the price of lightweight clincher rims.

If you want a lightweight rim, just for hillclimbs, go for a tubular. That's the only way you'll save serious weight. Ambrosio Chrono rims. If you want a slightly more comfortable ride, the open Pro is the best choice, but the weight saving over the CXP 33 is insignificant.

    Have fun!

PS if you choose to use alloy nips make sure the spokes are long enough. They must reach right through the nip.

I've got a 28 hole CXP 14 clincher. 700c. If any of you lads can find me a CXP30 tubular in either 28 or 24 hole drilling, I'd be happy to trade. This offer will remain open until next spring when I'll have to build it into a wheel for time trialling, but I'd greatly prefer tubs. If you can find more than one rim I'll include the front hub and spokes it's built with right now (I built it with some odds and ends from my toolbox but never used it). It's built with DT Competition DB spokes on a lightly used unbranded black hub. For time trialling I'd have to use a better hub and thinner spokes, but as I've said, would much prefer tubular.

Ah, if no postage I'm stuck. Unless you know any of the Cambridge fixed gear lads who might be in London any time- I'd have to ask them if they'd mind picking this up for me.

Do you still have the CXP 30 rim?
