the stem on the floor is the type you need, it clamps onto the fork steerer.
If for some reason you want to use a quill stem, you'll have to get new forks (with a top threaded section) and a new headset...
Really? That sucks! I already got theses handlebars to fit the quill stem, they are 26mm, if I can't use the quill stem, those handlebars won't even fit on the current handlebar clamp as it's 25.4mm. I have messed this up good an proper, any suggestions?

I've had a search on this forum and on google/youtube but can't really find an answer to my question.
Basically i've got a new quill stem which i'm trying to fit, however i've run into a problem. Where the bolt joins inside in the headset, the wedge (I think it's called) is a)stuck and b) the wrong size.
I've got some photos to help illustrate my point as i'm still pretty new to bikes
This the the wedge that is inside, how do I get it out? It's a pretty new bike so it won't be rusted or corroded on, I just don't want to force it out and break it!
The left is my new quill stem, the bolt size is larger than the bolt on the right which is the bolt that was attached to the wedge inside.
What do I need to buy to make my life ten times easier? Presumably a bigger wedge? I got this (26 / 100mm) quill stem by the way if that helps.

Please note, this is single speed with a front brake only, it is not fixed gear, i've had a few messages asking this
I've had this bike for about a year I think, a friend sold it to me and converted it to single speed.
I rode it less than 5 times before realising its totally the wrong size for me, and it has sat around doing nothing ever since.
I don't know much about bikes, so I have taken a lot of photos to compensate.I believe it is 21 inch (I measured the crank to the top of the bike at an angle, not including the saddle).
I have taken some more measurements to make sure I haven't got it all wrong. It is roughly 20 inches along the bar at the top. From spoke to spoke it is just over 24 inches, and from the floor to the top of bar along the middle it is just under 32 inches. There is some rust along the handle bars/pedals/under the seat (see photos), but I presume people will modify this anyway, so thats probably irrelevant.
There is only the front brake at the moment, again I'm sure that will be changed too.If you want me to find something out for you, just email me with some instructions and i'll give it a go.
I live and work in South London/Surrey and I can deliver the bike anywhere in London really (in my car).Email me with questions and offers to defant (at) gmail.com or PM me!
