the security firm wanted police involvement before accessing the CCTV, and the police would only get involved if the incident was confirmed 'captured' on CCTV!
That's complete bollix if a copper's told you that. You have reported a crime, you have identified a possible location of CCTV evidence, for them to fob you off is deplorable. Get in touch with plod and let them know you want the CCTV examining, and a valid reply as to why they can't do anything.
