  I just looked in to see if they still had that stick figure going up hill and was stunned to see anything active at all... bike builder worked fine (OSX 10.5.8, firefox 3.6.10), checked into the Classico... wait til mine (2009 blue) gets nicked and I'll sort out a new one, ahem...

  I live in Weston Street, I can see the site from my flat, but didn't see the incident. Cycle daily and am humbled at how easily it occurred. Everyone familiar with the road knows it's hugely popular with cyclists, the surface is terrible and the sight line in that particular area is poor when cars are parked.
  There have been two recent initiatives to make the street "better"... Firstly, Southwark Council further along at the junction of Leathermarket St did the all pervasive road level with the pavement, allow cars to run across your feet-style junction. It had previously been perfectly adequate. And at the fatal site, the junction of Snowsfield and Weston Street, Team London Bridge undertook a project they call "pocket plazas". Neither were aimed at safety, neither discouraged speeding and neither party will put their hands up to acknowledge their complicity in wasting money when lives should be the primary goal.
  I wish the family every respect and was heartened to see locals had placed flowers and candles outside the Rose pub.

  They built up scaffold pole stands and fixed them to the structure of the containers. Everyone bolts on to them. Yeah, I'd say it was secure. I should have left mine overnight after a friday drinking spell, walked into a jutting out bit of metal and hit the floor. Got on my bike and came off again before I left the car park... The next week they put the lights in them, I guess security watched the whole thing...
  I forget the keeper of the keys name... he works in the office next to the printing dept. Try asking if there are more spaces. It's never at capacity...

  er, I got one... (not staff either!)

  It's just a dirty container round the side, supposed to have cctv on it - but doesn't. Could fit more than 25 I imagine. It's only secured with a padlock and pretty primitive and dark... they put a battery operated lamp in there after I smashed my nose up on it, so they really care...

  Ahem, got carried away there, they do have CCTV... they even moved the containers (by crane...) so they can be in view... Security just told me so!
