keep both front and back, fixed wheel bicycle technically have two brakes, the back wheel and the front brakes.

if you really really insist on looking like a fixie skidder by using only one brake, a back brake may be idea if you're not exactly experience when it come to using brake.

netherless I still insist on riding singlespeed with two brakes, it's safer.

cheers edscoble! safe is good. i guess i just wanna look COOL. my rear brake is always very responsive and can't remember a time when i've needed to use both my front and back at the same time.

    • newbie alert * newbie alert * so please bear with me...

no doubt this has come up before, probably a few times, but i can't find the damn thread and this is relevant-ish....

so i've got an old, converted SS pug. sweet thing, she is. still has the original dropdowns, which i like, but i would like to piss the original brake levers off and replace them with one 2-finger brake lever (to be honest, for aesthetics, simplicity, plus i only ever use one brake)...so bearing in mind it's SS and i only want one brake; do i keep the front or back brake? what is best practice?
