    Slight threadjack:

If you can't get nitromors or don't want to run the risk of serious chemical burns, I can recommend 'Rustins Strypit' paint stripper. works on every paint I've tried and even on powdercoat with repeat applications. Nice and thick too so less likely to drip. Also no burns - I haven't dunked a hand in it or anything, but I've gotted little splashes on me with no harm done.

Should be able to get some from a local hardware shop. Good luck!

And no, I don't work for Rustin's (Although reading this back it sort of looks that way...)

So I'm doing up an old bike that was found in a barn, and was wondering if anyone has heard of the manufacturers - Haddon. Stepdad thinks they were associated with Raleigh, and would fit with the bits on there (Cottered cranks. What a bloody pain)

The main reason I ask (This is going to sound crass) is that the only result I turned up while googling was an ebay auction for a Haddon head badge, which went for about 10 quid in the end. So, before I get started hacking the old thing about to be my winter beater, I figured it might be a good idea to inquire as to the pedigree; after all I don't really want to go ruining a nice and possibly valuable old machine with my heavy-handed ways!

Ah, how I loved commuting and the ridiculously subsidised office gym membership at my old job. 20 mins on the bike to and from work plus a half hour in the gym and I could literally eat fit to burst while still getting trimmer!

If we're sharing snacks, I found that ready mixed muesli (With nuts for protein if poss) plus yoghurt and honey was a good way to sustain me between returning from work and getting ramped up to cook something.

Seems this is as good a place as any - I'm currently restoring/converting an old heap found in a barn (Really) and have had no luck tracing its pedigree. Anyone ever hear of Haddon cycles? Seems they were a british marque in/around the 70s; I've heard that they might have been associated with Raleigh. I'd be interested if anyone had some insights.

Managed to get the old tape off. No exotic solvents required in the end - I picked the bars up this afternoon and the tape all came off with a little picking at the stubborn bits. I reckon my error was only giving the degreaser about an hour to get to work, but after about 24 hours with it on, the glue must have been weakened enough. The bars have come up lovely after a bit of buffing with wire wool, too :)

Yeah I've tried gt85 and no real joy - at a guess perhaps it can't get under the tape to work on the glue? Could be I'm just going about it the wrong way though so if there's any particular tricks...?

This may be an inappropriate threadjack, but does anyone have an insight into getting bar tape off? I have an old pair of drops with ratty black vinyl tape (Though to have been wrapped some time in the 70's, so time for a do-over) and I'm having no luck with normal degreaser or just picking at it. Acetone/nail polish remover is my next step but after that I'm flummoxed!
