  I agree totally, I think there should be a "what to do if your bike is stolen" similar to the accident thread...

  Something along the lines of
  (a) report it to the police (with all the relevant contact details)
  (b) put a post in the stolen bikes thread
  (c) check brick lane etc
  (d) check the locks thread before getting a new bike
  (e) see advice on securing seat posts etc
  (f) follow up police details
  etc etc

• Getting to Stansted Airport

  Sorry to derail a little but have you had this confirmed?

  you can't take a bike on the Stansted Express unless it's packed for Air Travel.

  I am flying from Stansted on Friday and didn't think getting a bike to the airport would be a problem, having seen your message I checked the Stansted Express website and is says

  Please note large non-folding bikes are not permitted.

  Argh, I can pack my bike before I get on the train but I can't think of any other way of getting to airport with ease if I can't take it full stop.

  Sorry this doesn't help you but if you could let me know where you heard that they would take packed bikes that would be great....

  I saw a tandem being ridden across clapham common yesterday, it stuck in my head because I can't recall seeing a tandem for ages... wasn't close enough see bike or riders in detail but I guess it's possible that it was yours and it's still in South London area.

  Hello, i don't have a picture, but some arse just stole my green Twin-Twenty tandem bike, from the peckham area. : ( it's a bit like a raleigh shopper but a tandem version, dark vibrant, emerald green, 'twin' and 'twenty' are written on the seatposts. I will try and find a photo as soon as i can, but I only just got it so I haven't taken any.
