This year was my first and I very much enjoyed it despite the lack of training and preparation - though I am glad I got a decent pair of bib shorts and a full service before hand.
I ended up doing most of the route by myself, which was empowering, but I reckon the social aspect is key, and I would have struggled to repair a puncture myself in the dark. Will definitely form a posse if I am doing for it 2019, and probably have a less ambitious Saturday before the event.

Was going north bound towards Stoke Newington Church St but accordingly to Strava only made it up to the junction with Mildmay Grove South https://www.strava.com/activities/1519079320

I don't know if this counts as a minor accident as I have no recollection of it but on Thursday night I was cycling home from work drinks and next thing I know I was getting into an ambulance on what I believe was Mildmay Park, perhaps near the junction of Mildmay Grove South if I can trust my GPS data.
I am mostly fine now but it was pretty scary being told I had multiple fractures to my skull and bleeding on the brain. Definitely going to wear a helmet during my commute after that. My bicycle is a different story, was told by the shop that the frame is a write off. I can only guess that with the forces involved I may have been in a hit and run. Have filled a police report with the little I know and hoping that the police contact Islington Council for some CCTV.
So it's almost 11 years since I broke my femur, and since then I've taken up running and ran 11 marathons.
