This may sound nuts, but as a pista owner, I've been toying with the idea of putting on some MTB bars and turning the thing into a singlespeed cyclocross affair. However, I'm concerned about two things: how robust the wheels are, and clearances for nobbier tires.
So: has anyone taken a similar singlespeed (langster, paddywagon, flyer, even the pista) and thought of, attempted, or even converted to cyclo-x? If so...how'd you do it?

pretty sure that 4-prong is only for the LMA-8 (which I don't have). From the looks of it, all their other freewheels appear to need a pin spanner to take the thing apart...
As for the ENO, the last time I tried a 3/32 with 1/8 chain I wasn't all the pleased...fine, noisy blah blah, but the chain had a periodic 'click click' that, over time, would only lead to one thing I think. Thoughts?

Does anybody know how to REMOVE a dicta freewheel?
I've seen some four-pronged, Dicta LMA-8 tools floating around, but as far as I can tell, my bike came stock with a Dicta, 16T, LMA-1 (see http://www.dicta.com.tw/samp_all.htm ). Thoughts? I really can't fathom how to get this thing off without destroying it...
Awesome thanks for the tip! Agree about the spokeage...I think at the very moment I'm more worried about tire clearance, can't seem to find anything to would remotely fit (for obvious reasons, the pista frame is not designed to accommodate a fat cyclo tire...)
