After 15 years of the big smoke me and the family are moving back up north. Before we go up the missus is taking our daughter skiing but my dodgy knee won't oblige, so instead i'm doing one last epic fixed tour of London with trailer in tow carrying my 3yr old son Stanley. We're going to spend one week late March touring as many sites around London as possible and would like some ideas of places to go to, parks, cafes, ships, museums and such like, the more unusual the better. We're based near Croydon but distance isn't a problem but can't say that about hills and my knowledge of north and east London is limited. Any ideas would be most welcome.

Great idea and I'd like to second Heathers comments. I work as an instructor for WFW and can't say strongly enough what a fantastic charity it is and how beneficial it is to it's users.
Can i also add another special needs charity project i work on called Gear up, it's held twice a week (weds/thurs mornings) at Sutton arena and helped by a fantastic group of volunteers without whom it would cease to exist. Our only costs are two instructors, arena hire, repair costs and admin costs which are minimal as it is mainly absorbed into the running cost of an environmental community charity EcoLocal. At the moment funding for gear up is extremely low and more is needed to see it through the year. As Heather says charities are the first to suffer in these hard times and i'm sure it will be of real benefit to any of those listed.

I've suspectedly ruptured my acl skiing at the weekend, doc in switerland said it may heal conservatively, anyone know if is this true and if so, will it repair itself fully? I would like to avoid surgery if possible to get back to work soon as poss(no cycle, no work) surgery looks like a long process. Seeing the doc tomorrow afternoon to hopefully book an MRI, any advice apart from sticking to two wheels in future??

I work at a environmental charity in South london if that's any good for you, we're always on the lookout for volunteers. Our cycle projects include Gear Up (cycling for all project), teaching level 1-2 national standards to over 50's and families, Ecolocal deliveries and mobile cycle mechanic, Dr bikes, Recycling old bikes. Future possibles will be basic maintanence course to teenagers and adults and we're looking to start a new venture in one of the local parks to include most of the above but also hire out bikes.

No big send off for this tour, leavin do's will be arranged but this is just a farewell to London and will drop in on a few friends along the way.
Tommy that's a good one, links up well with the waterlink way as well and he loved the woolwich ferry when we went to watch the tour of britain. Anyone know if its worth going further up to the Olympic park to view anything around there?
