Hi everyone. My downstairs neighbour had his distinctive Google bike stolen from the shared hallway of our house on Lordship Park, N16 at some time between 6pm and 7pm yesterday evening. Probably an opportunist theft, the door may have been left open by people in the other flat who were letting people in/out. It was locked with a basic cable lock (yeah, I know). I've advised him to have a look down Brick Lane but in the meantime, if anyone in the area spots it, please PM me.

The stolen bike is identical to this one:

Outside Sainsburys in Angel this evening. The cable lock is going through the d-lock which has been left on the frame bracket. It's through the frame as well but still...

Hi, thanks for the tip Rob, but unfortunately that's not the same bike. The paint job is different - the missing bike's paint matches the one in the photo, and also the fizik bar tape as VanUden says, also he is right to say it is more slate blue/grey than grey/grey.

    Hi guys.

The chap in the flat downstairs from me has had his bike stolen - it's a 1980s Raleigh Competition racing bike in dark grey/light grey two-tone.

It was taken from the hallway of our building on Lordship Park, Hackney N16 over the weekend, possibly during the day time last Friday - builders were doing work on another flat in our house and they probably left the front door open. I don't think the bike was locked, or if it was, with a cable... Feel bad for him cos he's only lived here a couple of weeks. Luckily I ride to work otherwise mine could have been half-inched as well.

Distinguishing marks: black fizik bar tape, pouch behind saddle. Not sure of frame size but I would guess about 54cm, either 501 or 531 tubing, original Shimano parts.

I'll try to speak to him tonight so may edit with more info/pics if possible. Otherwise please drop me a PM if you spot it... naturally I'll be telling him to check out the usual place...

This photo is **NOT **the bike in question but it has the same paint job - I've done a quick photoshop on the saddle and bars to match the missing bike...

    Cheers...

The more I look at that Cinelli the more I feel like I'm going to have a Hitchcock-inspired dream where it tries to kill me.

It seems like a stupid decision to me, for all the reasons already mentioned. I use buses a fair bit in addition to cycling, usually when I'm going somewhere I don't want to leave my bike locked up for an extended period, or when I'm not going to be in a fit state to cycle home. Does anyone know what the actual cost is going to be? I read that the additional costs for extra vehicles would be over £12m a year. Not sure if that involves public money or includes all the conductors that will be needed. Crazy amounts of money for what is, for many I suspect, an aesthetical preference. Presumably it'll be used as an excuse to jack up the fares.

Dunno if anyone else spotted this but I walked through Clissold Park at about 6.30 last night and there was a group of plaid-shirted teenagers by the tennis courts dicking around on ss/fixed gears (including a couple of unipacs, lol). Looked like some were riding fixed with no foot retention and quite possibly brakeless as well, I heard one mentioning how hard it was to stop or keep his feet on the pedals...
